THE GREATER WEST CHESTER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE (GWCC) is
excited to unveil a new, exciting initiative: Think-Shop-Buy-Local
(TSBL). The initiative is designed to benefit consumers and to help
local businesses. TSBL participants—business members of GWCC—will
offer special discounts to help consumers save money while promoting
According to Mark Yoder, president of GWCC, TSBL could mean a
significant boost to the local community. Discounts from local businesses will provide incentives for local customers to become acquainted or reacquainted with nearby shops and services. In turn, businesses can plow more money and resources into the community. The commitment to the TSBL initiative is a commitment to keeping our community robust, says Yoder.
FAQs About TSBL
The Greater West Chester Chamber created TSBL as a part of its mission to help its members attain new customers.
GWCC’s partnership with the West Chester Area School District (WCASD) connects the Chamber’s TSBL participating businesses with
nearly 700 Chamber members and 13,000 students and families of
WCASD. The TSBL program encourages everyone to shop and buy locally.
What does GWCC hope to achieve through this initiative?
The aim is to encourage the community to support GWCC’s members and to expand the Chamber’s membership so that community members have more businesses to choose from through TSBL. Finally, GWCC hopes that its members will thrive and prosper through this initiative.
Why is this so important to the Greater West Chester community?
According to the “Civic Economics Study,” 2008, when consumers shop locally, $0.68 of every dollar stays in the community through support from the business, taxes and local employment. When they shop with a national chain, only $0.43 supports the local community. When consumers shop on the internet, nothing comes back to the community.
